Police see spike in vehicle break-ins
Law enforcement asking residents to take special care to 'lock up'

The Simi Valley Police Department is notifying the citizens of Simi Valley of a recent increase in thefts from vehicles at night.

Most of the vehicles have been parked on the street or on driveways and have been left open or unlocked, making them easy targets for thefts.

In many cases, valuable property- especially laptop computers, purses and CDs- has been left in plain view inside the vehicles.

The police department reminds drivers to park their vehicles in the garage whenever possible, remove valuable property from vehicles and lock all vehicle doors.

These steps will reduce the opportunity for the thefts to occur.
