Baseball teams eyeing postseason

With four games left to play in the Marmonte League regular season, the Royal and Simi Valley high baseball teams have an eye toward the playoffs.

Simi Valley is in third place in league with a 6-3-1 record. Royal is in fourth place, just a half game behind SVHS at 6-4. Royal is two games up on fifthplace Calabasas and Westlake, both of whom are 4-6.

Simi Valley plays three of its remaining four games in league against teams with losing records, with Royal being the lone squad above .500.

Royal's path to the postseason will be tougher, as the Highlanders still have to play league leaders Thousand Oaks and Newbury Park, as well as the Pioneers.

The top four finishers in league automatically qualify for the playoffs.
