Locals star at Arcadia Invite

Last Saturday night track and field athletes from Royal and Simi Valley high schools continued their season-long success by competing in the Arcadia Invitational.

Royal senior Hudson Andrews came in fourth place in the mile invitational race with a time of 4:12.80. In the twomile run, Highlander junior Alex Routh came in seventh place by posting a 9:25.86. His teammate, senior Jun Reichl, finished 19th with a time of 9:47.68.

In the triple jump, RHS junior Philip Burks finished in 14th place with a leap of 44-03.

The Highlander relay team came in 15th place in the distance medley. They finished in 10:42.94.

Simi Valley was represented once again by senior Anna Sperry, who finished in second place in the mile run invitational with a time of 4:49.75.

On Friday the Pioneer relay team placed seventh in the 4x1 relay invitational. The Simi runners finished in 21:21.14.

This weekend, many local athletes will be competing against teams and individuals from around the nation in the Mt. SAC Relays at Mt. San Antonio College. - Thomas Gase
