College workshop targets student journalists

Electronic and print journalism students seeking to improve their journalism skills and learn newspaper operations, explore career opportunities or expand their knowledge of today's issues are invited to Media Day from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., April 28 in the Learning Resources Center at Moorpark College.

Working journalists will lead sessions on shooting video for the web, getting the news story, information graphics, getting the live shot, and more. Media Day is open to students in high school and college. Advisers, parents and community members may also find the workshops informational.

The conference is jointly sponsored by the journalism program at Moorpark College, the Moorpark College Outreach Office and the California Newspaper Publishers Association. Registration and parking are free. To register, go to www.cnpa.com/outreach.
