Middle school program helps failing pupils get back on track
District wants to reduce number of students who are held back

      A new program in Simi Valley Unified School District is trying to help students stay on track for graduation. The goal of the Middle School Task Force Intervention Program is to identify students at risk of being held back because of failing grades and intervene before it's too late.

      Professionals in the sciences are needed to volunteer as judges for the 2007 Ventura County Science Fair April 17 to 19 at Seaside Park in Ventura. Nearly 1,000 students from throughout Ventura County, grades six through 12, will enter their projects in the 53rd annual fair.

Collegian inducted into honor society
      Simi Valley resident Roberto Valladares was inducted into the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi chapter at Westmont College in Santa Barbara in March. Valladares finished at the top of his class and scored in the 99th percentile on the American Chemical Society National Exam.
