+Air National Guard Tech. Sgt. Wayne A. Combs has deployed to Iraq as a member of 332nd Air Expeditionary Wing headquartered in Balad Air Base north of Baghdad.

Combs is assigned to the 557th Expeditionary Red Horse Squadron.

He is a structures journeyman normally assigned to the 146th Civil Engineering Squadron, Port Hueneme and a 1977 graduate of Royal High School.

+Air Force Staff Sgt. Christopher L. Basinger has deployed overseas.

He is a firefighter normally assigned to the 30th Civic Engineering Squadron, Vandenberg Air Force Base, Lompoc, Calif.

Basinger is the son of Gary and Jodi Basinger of Simi Valley.

+Army Spc. Ian McCullum has graduated from basic infantry training a t Fort Benning, Columbus, Ga.

He i s the son of Larry McCullum of Simi Valley and a 2006 graduate of Pepperdine University.

+Army Pvt. Israel J. Arviso has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.

He i s the son of Susan Arviso of Canyon Country and grandson of John Awerkamp of Simi Valley.

+Army Spc. Richard D. Slack recently served in Baghdad as a member of a battalion assigned to the 172nd Stryker Brigade Combat Team from Fort Richardson, Anchorage, Alaska.

He was awarded the Army Commendation and Army Achievement medals.

Slack is a medical specialist with two years of military service.

He is the son of Georgiana Little of Simi Valley and a 1995 graduate of Apollo High School.
