The club gives members an opportunity to develop initiative and leadership by participating in the active life of the community. Organized by members of Kiwanis Clubs of Simi Valley and Santa Susana, the new club has 35 members. Its name, SimiSu, symbolizes the coming together of the two clubs in a joint effort to improve the lives of the developmentally disabled. Kiwanis advisers lead the members through the processes of conducting meetings, fundraising and service projects. Also assisting are advisers from ARC and volunteers from the Department of Recreation and Parks. The club meets on the first and third Tuesday of every month at 5:30 p.m. at Big Z's Pizza, 2428 Sterns St., Simi Valley. Interested parties are welcome.
