In defense of letter writer who caused a stir I was dismayed by the letters of harsh words in response to prior mail regarding comments published about a youth who died while behind the wheel. We all have our "opinions," as one family lamented. Great, we all agree. My angle is that those of the liberal view of this youth's actions- those coming to the defense of his parents- I would ask them for their vocal support of him if a family member or friend of theirs were injured or worse by this youth's street racing. I kind of bet their tears would flow for prosecution. The people making issue that critics "don't know his heart" should then provide evidence that they knew it, at which time we could ask why they didn't step forward to help prevent the tragedy, since they are so wellknowing. Bottom line is that the youth put everyone else in danger with his actions, with no regard for anyone else. Yes, I know it's a folly of youth, all of us need to stand and deliver. Sympathy should go to those who protect life. No one knows his heart or his family, and it's not an issue nor is it relevant to his actions. His actions warrant rebuff; any rebuke of his parents is very shallow, but they hold responsibility for his upbringing.
