SCORE! hosts spelling bee in Simi

SCORE! Educational Centers will host a free spelling bee for Simi Valley area students of all ages from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 23 at 1308 Madera Road, No. 4B, Simi Valley.

Students will be asked to spell grade-appropriate words in a group setting. Prizes will be given to the best speller in each grade.

"The benefits of participating in the spelling bee reach beyond improving language skills," said Steve Johnson, vice president of education for SCORE!

"Because children will be interacting in a group setting, they will build their self-confidence, their ability to thrive under pressure and their public speaking skills. They will also have the opportunity to meet other children and make new friends in the community," said Johnson.
