Letter criticizing parents of dead teen was uncalled for

The judgmental letter of William J. Tewksbury was unnecessarily harsh, especially when he said he felt very little sympathy for the death of 17yearold Daniel Crane.

I cringed when I read his words, and my heart ached for the further pain his parents must be feeling reading those uncaring and hurtful words.

Youth make mistakes, but it is always tragic when they pay for their mistakes with their lives.

To claim that Daniel's turnaround was a myth and that he sold a bill of goods to someone was outright cruel to his loved ones. Daniel's parents were loving and courageous to have sought treatment for their son, and you belittle their efforts.

Who can truly know what is in the thoughts and soul of another individual? That judgment should be reserved for God.

I've raised three sons, and I praise God and am grateful that the folly of their teen years never had serious consequences. My heart goes out to Daniel's family, and I am sorry for the loss of their beloved son.

I hope the caring and support of the community will help to ease their pain. Donna Prenta Simi Valley
