Don't forget to 'spring' forward this Sunday

Daylightsaving time officially begins at 2 a.m. Sunday, March 11.

The time change previously began on the first Sunday in April, but has been moved forward.

According to the federal government, daylight-saving time saves energy and provides more sunlight for leisure activities at night.

The return to standard time has changed, too. Normally daylight-saving time ended on the last Sunday in October.

This year clocks will be changed a week later, at 2 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 4.

Clocks move forward in springtime and fall back in autumn.
