Regal Center the site of a second armed robbery

A woman was robbed in the parking lot of the Regal Center Plaza at 9:53 p.m. March 1.

Kelsey McLeod, 26, of Simi Valley was walking to her parked vehicle when she was approached from behind by someone carrying a handgun and demanding her purse. The victim did not resist.

The robber grabbed the victim's purse, which contained an iPod but no wallet, and ran northbound through the parking lot. No shots were fired.

The victim was not insured. The estimated value of the loss was $356.

An area search by police officers was unsuccessful.

This was the second armed robbery reported in the popular Simi shopping center in less than a week. On Feb. 23, a man and a woman from Fillmore were robbed of their wallet and purse by two robbers brandishing firearms.

The Simi Valley Police Department reminds everyone to be careful when walking alone and to look around and be aware of the surroundings at all times.
