Alleged champagne thief corked

A Baldwin Park man was arrested on suspicion of burglary and robbery Tuesday after he allegedly stole two bottles of Dom Perignon champagne valued at $300 from the Simi Valley Costco.

According to a Simi Valley Police report, Behdad Sajjadi, 37, got in a violent scuffle with Costco employees when they confronted him outside of the store. After one of the bottles broke causing injury, Sajjadi was restrained by the two employees until Simi PD arrived on scene at 5:58 p.m. to make an arrest, police said.

Sajjadi was taken to Simi Valley Hospital to be treated for lacerations before being booked in the Ventura County Main Jail. Both employees had their cuts treated on-scene.

Police said Sajjadi was "likely involved in prior champagne thefts as six additional bottles were found in his car."
