Mother thinks Reagan Library is no place to sell alcohol

I wanted to make the readers aware of a disturbing decision that the Ronald Reagan Library has made to serve beer and wine at the pub and café on site (application in process with the Alcohol Beverage Commission, Ventura County).

As a mother I cannot believe such a decision would even be considered. My son has had the privilege of touring the library on two separate occasions through school-related activities and I feel that at such a facility where many school tours are conducted alcohol should not be available.

The Reagan Library is a place of education, not to mention a prestigious place that people come to from all over the world to better learn about our former president- not a place to have cocktails.

Like many, I enjoy a glass of wine but not when I am in a learning setting with my child. And let's not forget most parents are going to be behind the wheel after visiting the facility.

I think what comes to mind is the saying, "There is a place and time for everything."

The only reason to serve alcohol would be revenue, yet all the negative complications that may arise seem to outweigh this type of funding.

There have to be better ways for the Presidential Foundation to raise monies that would be much more beneficial. President Ronald Reagan's legacy shouldn't be tainted by the sale of alcohol. Valerie Maestro Simi Valley
