Residents' outcry against Sinaloa Golf Course was justified I am one of those 32 NIMBYs who was part of the bombardment of the City Council on Monday, Jan. 26, showing my displeasure at the park district's plans to expand the course into a fullon, commercial facility. We did this after listening to the proposal with some vague details and some pretty pictures. This might be a good project, but in the wrong place. This land is zoned for recreational and low-density housing, not for a sprawling commercial enterprise. You say this about the opposition we voiced: "All of this before the district has even had the opportunity to consult the neighbors about their concerns." And: "There's nothing wrong with opposing a development in your neighborhood. But there is something wrong with trying to get a project voted down before you've even had a chance to speak with the developer." Come to find out after the meeting, the park district has had this in planning since 2004. It seems to me there was ample time to speak with us about our concerns and theirs, prior to asking us for our input on the proposal. When were they going to consult with us, after it was built? Lastly, keeping with your one-sided account, you fail to state Paul Miller's position: "If the neighbors aren't for it, neither am I." Mega kudos to Mr. Miller. Palika Gallagher Simi Valley |
