Campaign aims to raise $130K for Simi Y The Simi Valley Family YMCA kicked off its annual "Family to Family" fundraising campaign on Feb. 6. This year, the campaign, "Kids Need Heroes," hopes to raise $130,000 for the Simi Y and will continue through March 13. "We'll be calling on past donors and YMCA members during this time to make a contribution," said Mark Elswick, YMCA executive director. "Of course, we'll be happy to accept donations for any community member and business." The money raised will be used for financial assistance for families in need of YMCA services but cannot afford them. "We named this year's campaign 'Kids Need Heroes,' because the heroes who contribute ensure that each child and family, regardless of their circumstances or ability to pay, can be part of the YMCA," Elswick said. The YMCA is also looking for volunteers, individuals looking to inspire the community's young people. To donate or volunteer, call Elswick at (805) 5835338 or email melswick@simiymca.org. |
