Moorpark College Foundation now offering tuition assistance program
Students in a squeeze can get help

A significant number of continuing students can no longer afford to attend Moorpark College. Textbooks cost more than $100 each.

Although California community college tuition is the lowest in the nation, home and gasoline prices are among the highest in the nation.

The newest Moorpark College Foundation campaign, the tuition assistance program, is targeted to help these students.

The foundation board is asking donors, community members and college staff to purchase units for needy students to continue their college education.

One hundred percent of these donations go to purchase units. There are no administrative fees. Donations are tax deductible.

The program will be administered by the Moorpark College Scholarship office. Eligible students must be making academic progress toward a degree, certificate or transfer. Tuition assistance funds will be disbursed for the first time in May.

Moorpark College classes are typically three units. Full-time students take 12 to 15 units per semester. Sixty units or more are required to complete an associate degree or for university transfer.
