Family-friendly walking tour of Calabasas movie landmarks highlights film sites Harry Medved, co-author of "Hollywood Escapes," will lead a family-friendly walking tour from 1 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 28 through Malibu Creek State Park, off Las Virgenes Road, three miles south of the 101 Freeway. During the walk, Medved will point out locations seen in various Hollywood films. Calabasas' Malibu Creek State Park was formerly the 20th Century Fox Ranch. The tour will celebrate the park's 80th anniversary as a filming location. The walk along the park's main dirt road will feature places seen in "Planet of the Apes," "M*A*S*H," "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid," "Logan's Run" and "Pleasantville," among others. Meet in the lower parking lot, in front of the grassy hill where "How Green Was my Valley" was filmed. The walk is free, but there is a parking fee at Malibu Creek. At 5 p.m., Medved will show clips from the films and sign his book at the Barnes & Noble in the Calabasas Commons. "Hollywood Escapes," by Medved and Bruce Akiyama, is a travel guide to Southern California's outdoor filming locations. For more information, visit www.hollywoodescapes.com. |
