No anti-gay slurs were uttered at UCC protest
I am writing this letter after reading the article which was written regarding the second protest which was held at the United Church of Christ ("Smaller, moresubdued protest group appears at second church rally," Oct. 19).
I was at this protest, and after reading the statement which was made by Rev. Goudey I was sickened to think that a woman of God would not only break the law by harboring an illegal immigrant but would make statements that are flat-out lies.
I want to set the record straight. Never once did I ever hear anyone make any anti-gay slurs as she stated. Why would we have yelled anything about gays? It makes no sense- our protest had nothing to do with homosexuality.
We were there for one reason and one reason only, and that reason is because of the harboring of an illegal alien, which the church is guilty of. I can see only one reason for her to make these false accusations and that is to make us protesters look bad for wanting our laws upheld.
We did state she should obey the Bible and gave her certain scriptures such as Romans 13:17, which specifically states how Christians are to obey the laws of the land, which this church is failing to do.
I must add that the church was kind enough to put down fresh fertilizer the night before the protest for us protesters to enjoy.
It seems to me that what was laid down on the lawn for us is also being spread during church service and now they are spreading it to the Acorn readers for your enjoyment. Tricia Pasko Simi Valley
