Valley Vet to host wine extravaganza

2007-08-17 / Pets

The Valley Veterinary Nonprofit Corporation will host its third annual summer "Paws to Refresh" wine festival from 4 to 7 p.m. Sat., Sept. 8 at a private home in the Lexington Hills Estates in the Santa Rosa Valley.

The festival raises money for thousands of unwanted pets that are abandoned each year in Ventura County.

"Dumping pets in the hills or at the local shelter should not be an option, but it is sobering how many pets are simply thrown away," said Dr. Lowell Novy, president of the corporation. "Every cat or dog that dies because it is unwanted, whether in a shelter, by injury, disease or neglect, is an animal that, more often than not, would make someone a wonderful companion if given a warmhearted chance."

The event will feature music, Italian food, tarot card readings, live auction and wine specifically selected by Novy, a wine connoisseur.

Tickets are available on a firstcome, first-served basis and are $75 if purchased in advance and $90 at the door. Valet parking is available.
