Several county students receive appointments to military academies
Young people from several area schools have been accepted to U.S. military academies. Nominees were interviewed by a board in December at an all-day Saturday event and recommendations were made through the competitive nomination process.
+Accepted to the Air Force Academy are: Andrew Buttitta, 17, Thousand Oaks High School
Ryan Campbell, 18, Westlake High School
Bryan Koenig, 18, Royal High School
Justin Landseadel, 18, Oaks Christian School
Randolph Mann, 19, a 2006 graduate of Camarillo High School
Kyle Nelson. 18, Moorpark High School
+Accepted to the U.S. Military Academy at West Point are:
Eric Kanney, 17, Thousand Oaks High School
Robert Wolfe, 18, Oaks Christian School
Travis Zahnow, 20, 2005 graduate of Royal High School
+The Naval Academy accepted Logan Hershman, 17, Thousand Oaks High School and Josh Ziska, 18, Oaks Christian School.
The Merchant Marine Academy accepted William Short, 20, home schooled.
Rep. Elton Gallegly (RThousand Oaks) either made the nominations or assisted with them.
