     IRIS SMOOT/Acorn Newspapers SURF'S UP- Rosalie Dew of Simi Valley, and her son Jared, 14 months, enjoy cool scoops of ice cream from the Baskin-Robbins' mobile vehicle. Baskin-Robbins drove out in its "Surf's Up" van to promote the summer movie season and hand out free samples of new flavors, Penguin Swirl and Splish Splash at Santa Susana Community Park in Simi Valley on a hot Friday afternoon.

Faith-based day camp being offered
      Discovery Day Camp is a new faith-based children's day camp for children in grades one through six at the EVFree Conejo Valley Church, 999 Rancho Conejo Blvd., Newbury Park. Regular camp hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. through Aug. 24. Extended Day Camp is offered from 7 to 9 a.m. and 4 to 6 p.m.
