Black bear busted in backyard

Animal visitor captured and released

A bear was found wandering on a hill side to the rear of homes on the west side of 3100 Geronimo Street in northwestern Simi Valley at 2:46 p.m. May 22.

According to police reports, when officers arrived on the scene, they found the black bear in the rear yard of a house.

The police cordoned off the area and kept residents in their homes until officers from the California Department of Fish and Game arrived. Fish and Game officers sedated the bear and captured it without injury.

The animal was transported to Los Padres National Forest and released into the wild.
