Israeli general to speak at synagogue

Congregation B'nai Emet will host Israeli Gen. Uri Ram at the Sabbath service at 8 p.m. tonight, Friday, April 27, at 4645 Industrial St., No. 2C, Simi Valley.

Ram, who commanded Israeli Air Force troops from 1988-91, will speak about his experiences as a commander and give an analysis of Hezbollah's war on Israel.

In his role as brigadier general, Ram oversaw 30,000 personnel, 70 units and four military schools.

He holds a master's degree from the Israel National Defense College.

The service, to be led by Rabbi Michele Paskow and Cantor Michael Russ, will celebrate Israel's 59th year of independence as a modern country and will include special readings and songs about the land of Israel.
