Religious education conference features speakers, workshops
Event claimed to be 'largest annual catechetical event in the world'
      The 39th annual Los Angeles Religious Education Congress, sponsored by the Roman Catholic Church, will be at the Anaheim Convention Center from March 1 to 4. This four-day Congress for adults and youths is the largest annual catechetical event in the world, according to Congress Coordinator Paulette Smith. The theme is "Stand in the Light.

Local rabbi will lead twoweek tour of the Holy Land
      Rabbi Michele Paskow of Simi Valley's Congregation B'nai Emet will lead a twoweek tour of Israel this summer. The group will leave Los Angeles on Sunday, July 22 to visit Tel Aviv, Jaffa, Kibbutz Yad Mordechai, Rechovot, Jerusalem, Masada, Tiberias, Safed, Haifa, Acre and Rosh HaNikra, swim in the Dead Sea and take a boat ride across the Sea of Galilee.

UCC hosts presentation on evolution and faith
      The United Church of Christ in Simi Valley will present "Evolution, Faith and the Human Spirit" as part of its 10 a.m. service Sunday, Feb. 11. Blaine O'Connor and Stewart Bechman will give presentations, followed by a group discussion. O'Connor is a professor of philosophy at Los Angeles Mission College in Sylmar.
