Monarch’s gymnasts win awards

Monarch’s Gymnastics Optional Competitive Team earned many top prizes at the Memorial Scholarship Meet in Laguna Beach on Dec. 10.

Erika Estes, age 10, a level 7 gymnast of Simi Valley, and teammate Carinne Gale, age 11, level 10 gymnast of Simi Valley, both won first place on the beam.

Annalee Mueller, age 11, level 7 gymnast of Thousand Oaks, took first place on the

vault. Taking second place on vault were Darby Shattuck, age 11, of Thousand Oaks, and Kyra Williams, age 12, of Thousand Oaks.

Alyssa Gale, 14, new level 10 gymnast of Simi Valley, earned second place on a high-level vault with one-and-a-half twists. Her sister, Carinne, scored fourth place on vault.

The team trained for more than 20 hours a week. As a group, they won the “Best on Beam” award.
