Local woman helps send goods to troops For the Troops sent off 66 care packages recently to overseas troops—25 to the 10th Mountain Division stationed in Afghanistan, 25 to the 10th Mountain Division stationed in Iraq and the remaining 16 to various soldiers in both countries. For the Troops was founded last year by Paula Cornell of Simi Valley and Janie Josephson of Woodland Hills. To date they have sent off 129 care packages weighing more than 1,298 pounds to front line troops. The organization also prepared a shipment and sent it off in time to arrive for the holidays. For the Troops is supported by local Kiwanis Clubs (Warner Center, Simi Valley, Thousand Oaks, Calabasas), Simi Valley High School Key Club, St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church in Northridge, Sanyo Electronics Corporation in Chatsworth, Stray Steer Restaurant in Simi Valley, the EncinoTarzana Hospital Charitable Foundation, and individuals who have donated items and funds for postage costs.
