Politician should be able to swear on the Koran instead of Bible

In response to the letter “Unhappy with congressman who wants to be sworn in with the Koran,” published in the Dec. 15 edition of the Simi Valley Acorn, I disagree with the author that the new member of Congress should not be sworn in.

I believe that any member should swear on whatever belief he or she practices, be it the Koran, Bible, whatever.

We should not allow (some) folks’ narrow viewpoint of the world to cloud our judgment. Javed Raja Simi Valley
