Sobriety checkpoint nabs 3 DUI suspects
26 vehicles impounded, 940 motorists briefly detained

The Simi Valley Police Department conducted a sobriety/ license checkpoint in the 3100 block of Cochran Street from 8:30 p.m. Dec. 15 through 12:30 a.m. Dec. 16.

About 940 motorists were briefly detained and asked to present their driver’s licenses.

Three motorists were arrested and booked at Ventura County Jail on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

An additional subject was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana in a vehicle.

Seven other persons were arrested on charges of driving with a suspended license.Officers also issued 22 citations for a variety of vehicle code violations.

Nineteen of these citations were issued to persons driving without a valid license. As a result of the arrests and citations, 26 vehicles were stored or impounded.

The checkpoint was funded by a grant provided by the California Office of Traffic Safety.
