New specialty camps at Simi YMCA
The Simi Valley Family YMCA is introducing new camps this summer.

Base Camp is for children in grades one through five. Instead of taking field trips, activities will be brought to the camp. Campers can expect to experience a mobile marine lab and build a bear through Noah's Ark.

The camp will offer theme weeks such as Medieval Madness, Space Week and Hawaiian Luau week. Campers can also swim in the YMCA pool every day.

Parents may sign up their children for one week or for the entire summer program from June 19 through Aug. 25.

Zoopers camp, from June 26 through June 30, is a new camp

for animal lovers ages six to nine. Campers will go to the Santa Barbara and Los Angeles zoos and other animal destinations.

Thrill Seekers camp from July 31 through Aug. 4 is for youth ages 10 to 15 who love roller coasters and amusement parks. Field trips are planned to Knott's Berry Farm, Universal Studios and Magic Mountain.

All camps will meet at the Simi Valley Family YMCA,
