Kiwanians elect officers

At a recent meeting of Simi Valley Kiwanis Club, new officers and directors were elected.

Scheduled to take office in October are: Elaine Hintlian, president; Kathi Van Etten, president elect; Dale Kauffman, vice president; Pam Smith, secretary; Keith Barker, treasurer; and Jim Lightfoot, immediate past president.

Three new members were elected to the board of directors. Gary Hainline, Nick Esser, and Madeleine Kolodziej will join continuing members Ray Dempsey, Ruth Jacob, Al Orozco and Ron Smith.

Kiwanis of Simi Valley will give its Hope of America Award to one outstanding student at each of 28 participating Simi Valley schools at the various graduation ceremonies.

The award recognizes and encourages students who have demonstrated exceptional leadership, ethical and moral character, academic achievement, and a promise of future success and service to their community. Kiwanis members will present the awards.
