Beware of callers seeking money to 'help the troops'

Last week we got a telephone call about a person who stated that she was trying to collect money to help the troops. This person was trying to collect money for the so-called purpose of helping the veterans in the hospitals.

I asked, "What is the name of your group?" She said she was helping the disabled veterans who need help, etc.

I am a veteran of World War II and the coordinator for our Chapter 55 Disabled American Veterans-Simi Valley. Our chapter makes no calls for help for our veterans, such as asking for money. Our members from our chapter do not make phone calls asking for money. I believe this is a scam. John R. Finnigan Simi Valley
