Alcoa employees plant trees at school

Employees from Alcoa Fastening Systems in Simi Valley planted 15 Silver Maple trees at Lincoln Elementary School the weekend of Lincoln’s Birthday as part of the Alcoa Ten Million Tree program. A local nursery donated the trees.

In addition to the trees and other beautification around the school campus, the hours of community service by Alcoa employees makes the school eligible to receive a grant of up to $3,000 from the Alcoa Foundation.

“We are so delighted that you guys are donating trees for our campus,” Principal Debbie Riley wrote in a letter to Alcoa. “. . . It is really so nice for people who work really hard to take their personal time to come and makes our school more beautiful.”

The goal of the program is for Alcoa employees to plant 10 million new trees by 2020.
