Women’s scholarships now available in Simi Valley

The Simi Branch of the American Association of University Women is accepting applications for college scholarships open to senior girls who plan to attend an accredited four-year college or university full time in the coming fall.

Applications are available at Royal, Simi, Santa Susana and Moorpark high schools and Moorpark College. Application deadline is April 8. The application requires a copy of high school transcripts, list of school and community activities, and letters of recommendation from a high school teacher and also from a long time friend or community representative. Applicants must also submit a one to twopage essay explaining why a particular major or profession was chosen.

Recipients will be chosen based on grade point average, financial need and personal endeavors as stated in the essay.

Applications for a re-entry scholarship will be available at Moorpark College for a woman 25 years or older who is returning to a four-year college.

In the past, four to six scholarships have been awarded. Several scholarships will be offered this year in the name of Kay Barker.
