Man arrested after stealing car, fleeing police Simi Valley police officers arrested Jeff Heron, 36, of Simi Valley after the suspect drove a stolen vehicle and led authorities on a chase starting at 9:39 p.m. Wed., Jan. 18. Officers from the department’s Special Enforcement Section were conducting a surveillance of a parked stolen vehicle in the area of Franden and Goddard streets. Heron was observed by police as he approached the vehicle and drove it away. Officers in unmarked vehicles followed him. When Heron stopped on a culde-sac, peace officers attempted to talk with him. Heron avoided them by accelerating and driving to the end of the cul-de-sac, where he backed into one of the police vehicles, causing minor damage. Heron then drove forward and collided with another police vehicle, causing minor damage. The suspect then turned out his lights in an attempt to evade police. More officers joined in the pursuit of Heron. The suspect drove to Aztec Court, where he attempted to flee on foot. Heron was eventually arrested and booked at East Ventura County Jail. No one was injured during the incident. |
