Historical park offering Christmas memories
The Strathearn Historical Park and Museum is set to rekindle the child in everyone with old-time décor, tours and special programs.
"Kids of all ages" are invited to a free program, "Toys and Games-a Trip Down Memory Lane," 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec 9 at the park's Visitor Center, 137 Strathearn Place, Simi Valley.
Guests can listen to the stories behind some of the most beloved toys and games of the 19th to mid-20th centuries and take some time to play them again.
The park museum buildings are festooned for the season. Docent-led tours will be available before or after the presentation between 1 to 4 p.m. for a $3 donation.
The Visitor Center will offer a special Christmas Gift Shop and is also a "Be a Santa to a Senior" program site.
The Visitor Center and the park grounds are open Tuesday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. for shopping or self-guided tours.
Docent tours are also available on each Wednesday and Thursday at 1 p.m. and every Saturday and Sunday between 1 and 4 p.m. The last tour starts at 3 p.m. All docent tours request a $3 donation.
