Golf tournament raises $30K for police foundation
The 13th annual Simi Valley Police Foundation Golf Tournament, played at the Lost Canyons Golf Club, raised approximately $30,000 after expenses.
"We're very pleased with this figure. A portion of the proceeds will be used to purchase future canines for the
Simi Valley Police Department's K-9 Unit," said Dave McCormick, president of the Simi Valley Police Foundation.
A record number of more than 200 golfers signed up to play in this year's tournament, which included a putting contest, live and silent auction, dinner and awards presentation.
A couple of the canines from the K-9 Unit were present.
Next year's tournament is scheduled for Monday, Aug. 27.
