Church offers Thanksgiving feast to the needy
Sonrise Christian Fellowship will serve the hungry a Thanksgiving feast Sunday, Nov. 19 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the church, 2350 Shasta Way in Simi Valley.
The dinner will include a full Thanksgiving meal, white table cloths, wait staff and musical entertainment to those who would not normally be able to afford such a dinner.
"God has deeply impressed on our hearts that we are to serve those in need. Our goal in hosting this evening is simply to provide an experience which is part of most people's holiday desires,
but otherwise may not be part of some people's holiday plans. We want people to feel like kings and queens," said the Rev. Stan Wilson, senior pastor. "We also hope that those who attend truly feel valued and important, because they are."
This year's event has risen out of a desire by the Sonrise family to reach out to those in need and support the ministry of the Sonrise Food Pantry, which feeds a hot meal to nearly 100 people every Monday night.
