School board candidate has always spread anti-drug message
I am a retired Simi Valley teacher (with 34 years of experience) who had the good fortune to work with Thurlow Partridge most of my career. I don't usually write letters to the newspaper, but I could not let Greg Moses' misportrayal of Mr. Partridge's intentions go without a response.
Mr. Moses accuses Mr. Partridge of voting against drug paraphernalia law when he was a member Neighborhood Council in the 1980s.
Mr. Partridge did vote for banning the sale of paraphernalia at the Simi Valley Swap Meet and also stated at the time that the most important way to get kids to not use drugs was by drug education-that making drug paraphernalia illegal alone wouldn't stop students from using drugs without including education about the dangers of their use.
Mr. Moses has chosen to twist and distort Mr. Partridge's words, and I can only wonder what Mr. Moses' personal agenda is.
During Thurlow Partridge's 30-year-career as a middle and high school science teacher in Simi Valley, he taught his students about the dangers of using illegal drugs and supported, then and now, the enforcement of all laws against the sale and use of illegal drugs.
Shame on Mr. Moses for his lame character attack of Mr. Partridge with only 11 days left before the election and little time for a response. Sounds pretty desperate to me. Gregg Schramm Simi Valley
