Chamber crowns McDonald's on Tapo Street as its Business of the Year
Lisa Murphy, Chamber members and the staff of Tapo Street McDonald's The Simi Valley Chamber of Commerce has selected the Tapo Street McDonald's as the Business of the Year and Deb Holler of Citi Bank as the Business Person of the Year for 2006.
Chamber Chairman of the Board Daryl Kleintob, Chamber president Leigh Nixon and board members delivered the ceremonial balloons this week and made the announcement to Holler and Lisa Murphy of McDonald's at their businesses.
Both businesses will be honored at a banquet Jan. 12, 2007 at the Grand Vista Hotel.
Holler is the branch manager of Citi Bank, a position she has held for the past 10 years. With a long history of civic contributions and involvement in Simi Valley, Holler was chosen for her business standards and leadership abilities.
Involved in many of the community's nonprofit organizations, she is a past chief financial officer and member of the board for the Simi Valley Chamber of Commerce, board member in the Boys & Girls Club, an active member of the Rotary Club of Simi Valley and serves on the Moorpark College Foundation Board.
She and her husband, Bob Huber, attend and support many community events.
Holler is a graduate of Leadership Simi Valley and has been in the banking industry for 18 years.
McDonald's is being honored for its support of the Simi Valley community for more than thirty years.
From bringing Ronald McDonald to schools in the district to assisting needy children with back-to-school supplies, this company donates time and proceeds from fundraisers at the restaurant to many school programs. Manager/owner Lisa Murphy coordinates all of the activities on both the business side and with the school sites.
She also serves on the Youth Employment Services board under the city of Simi Valley and was instrumental in assisting the Chamber of Commerce as the street fair merchant liaison when the event was on Tapo Street.
McDonald's has been a member of the Chamber for 27 years.
