Williamson's attack on Foy Foundation was 'disgraceful'
Barbra Williamson's Oct. 20 letter was disgraceful. Maybe because the Acorn is new in town, Ms. Williamson thought she could sneak in a screed attacking a nonprofit organization that has helped more than 30,000 kids get toys during the holidays.
Barbra Williamson supports her longtime partner, Jim Dantona, in the current campaign silly season. She will say and do anything to get him elected.
The fact that she quoted "trusted" CPA Mark Nadel in her letter proves it's all just silly season hogwash. Nadel is a Dantona supporter and donor-therefore not a source to be trusted to provide an unbiased opinion on the matter.
The truth is Peter C. Foy Foundation actually does good in the community, and unwarranted attacks only endanger future services to kids that really need them.
The Foy Foundation is in good standing with the IRS, the secretary of state and the Franchise Tax Board. More than 90 percent of its funding goes directly to benefit children.
And let's not even begin to look into Citizens for Ethical Leadership. It is a phony baloney independent expenditure committee, a political tool that lets Candidate A throw mud at Candidate B, without having fingers pointed back at Candidate A as a "negative campaigner." And Jim Dantona is the most negative campaigner in this community's history.
Pretending Citizens for Ethical Leadership is a real organization is an insult to voters' intelligence.
It has done nothing for the community; it sprouted recently and has only spent money to run negative hit ads.
The money could have been better spent going directly to local nonprofit organizations, helping those less fortunate, and to improve our community.
Instead, Barbra Williamson chose to spend money to destroy a portion of our community. She needs to be "forthright" regarding everything about her relationship with Mr. Dantona. This community will com
mand it. Angie Richards Simi Valley
