Counseling center offers education for volunteers
The San Fernando Valley Counseling Center will hold an information meeting regarding its volunteer training program at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 11, at the San Fernando Valley Counseling Center, 8350 Reseda Blvd., Northridge.
The center will train adult volunteers interested in providing psychological counseling and therapy for individuals, couples and families. No prior education or training is required. Interns are also encouraged to apply.
Counselors will be thoroughly trained and will receive
ongoing mentoring and supervision from seasoned mental health professionals. The center, a nonprofit, lowfee mental health agency has been serving Los Angeles and Ventura counties since 1971. With the help of volunteers, licensed supervisors and trained volunteer paraprofessional counselors, the center provides low cost counseling to people who may not otherwise be able to afford this service.
