Event brings Gettysburg to California
The Rotary Club of Moorpark's fifth annual Civil War ReEnactment: The Blue & The Gray is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 4 and 5 at Tierra Rejada Ranch, 3370 Sunset Drive in Moorpark, just behind the entrance to Underwood Family Farms.
The gates will open at 10 a.m. both days. Battles will be at noon, 3 p.m. and 5:15 p.m. Saturday, and noon and 2 p.m. Sunday.
This year's fundraiser reenacts many of the famous battles of Gettysburg, including Pickett's charge, Culp Hill, the Wheatfield and Little Round Top. Spectators can expect to see infantry clashes, cavalry charges, ar
tillery barrages and movie-quality pyrotechnic explosions during the battles. Abraham Lincoln will read his famed Gettysburg Address, and Gen. Robert E. Lee will surrender to Gen. Ulysses S. Grant.
Vendors and refreshments will be available. Visitors can inspect the Union and Confederate camps and learn more about the pivotal battles from the Civil War re-enactors.
Admission is $15 for adults, $10 for school children and free for children under age 6. Proceeds from the event will go to local organizations to meet community needs. For more information, visit www.moorparkrotary.com.
