Law enforcement backing cements his support of Foy for supervisor
It was refreshing to see Ventura County's sheriff, district attorney and other countywide elected officials have endorsed Peter Foy to represent the 4th District on the Board of Supervisors.
Sheriff Bob Brooks and District Attorney Greg Totten believe Mr. Foy is the top candidate, and that says a ton in a district that believes wholeheartedly that public safety is the top issue.
I have watched the campaign carefully, and believed pretty strongly that Foy was the clearcut choice. Knowing that the top law enforcement officials in Ventura County support Mr. Foy only cements my decision.
Our sheriff's department must be adequately funded to ensure suspects are arrested and incarcerated properly, and that our courts are safe.
The district attorney's office must be supported properly to ensure those suspects who are arrested are prosecuted to the full extent of the law, and that victims are treated with respect and dignity.
I have been impressed with how Mr. Foy has steered clear of negative campaigning, how he straightforwardly states his priorities if elected, and chooses to contact voters directly to convey his ideas and messages.
The fact that he does not issue a press release every other day, or stand on a soapbox to promise the world to groups just to get their votes, indicates he's not a politician-yet another strength.
His no-nonsense stance against crime is a dominating attribute, something we should embrace in the Nov. 7 election. Michael McIntyre Simi Valley
