Hit-and-run suspect flees scene in burning car
Cindy Morse, 40, of Simi Valley, was arrested on charges of hit-and-run and driving under the influence Oct. 13 after she allegedly attempted to flee a crash scene in her burning car.
Morse was driving west on Country Club Drive, east of Wood Ranch Parkway at 6:19 p.m. when she struck a curb and lost control of the vehicle.
She drove into oncoming lanes and struck head-on an eastbound vehicle driven by Judith Rasmussen. Morse's vehicle caught fire, but she continued driving. Several residents chased Morse's flaming car.
She abandoned the burning vehicle at Sinaloa Golf Course and ran north across the golf course.
Witnesses detained Morse until police arrived to arrest her. She was booked at the main jail in Ventura. No one was injured as result of the collision.
