Genealogists plan annual seminar Saturday

The Ventura County Genealogical Society Inc. will host its annual seminar from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 21.

The seminar will be held at the Ventura LDS Family History Center, 3501 Loma Vista Road in Ventura.

The seminar features handouts, a syllabus, exhibits, door prizes, and new and used genealogy books for sale.

The guest speaker is Alan E. Mann discussing new trends and technologies in family history, Internet surname searches, online geography for genealogists and English research on the Internet. Mann is an accredited genealogist researcher specializing in England, Australia and the Channel Islands.

He has been involved in lectures and research in genealogy for more than 20 years.

The cost is $35 for society members and $40 for nonmembers, which includes all materials and lunch.
