James Richard Gomez, 21, of Simi Valley was arrested Oct. 9 for allegedly stabbing Joseph Propst in the left arm during a dispute over a female love interest shared by both men.

Simi Valley patrol officers responded to a fight call in the area of Cottonwood Avenue and Westwood Street at 10:39 p.m. and found that Propst had been stabbed.

He was taken by ambulance to Simi Valley Hospital where he was stabilized in the emergency room.

Gomez fled in a red Pontiac Grand Am. A relative later drove him to Los Robles Hospital in Newbury Park for treatment of superficial wounds he suffered during the incident. Police arrested Gomez at the hospital.

Gomez's vehicle was found inside his garage and the allegedly weapon used in the incident was recovered.

He was booked into the Ventura County Jail for suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, a felony that carries a maximum sentence of four years.
