A Simi Valley man is the latest victim in a series of Ventura County attacks involving baseball bats. Robert Christian, 28, was assaulted by two people armed with baseball bats while he was walking near East Los Angeles Avenue and Christine Street in Simi Valley early Wednesday morning.

The victim was taken to Simi Valley Hospital where he was treated for injuries inflicted during the attack.

According to police, neighbors were aroused by the sound of loud arguing in the street at about 4:30 a.m. Christian was then heard calling for help before authorities and the ambulance arrived.

Simi Valley police Wednesday were still searching for two possible attackers and investigating a motive for the attack.

According to a report, one of the assailants is 6foot1, weighing 190 pounds with a shaved head and a medium build.

The second person is described as 5-foot-10, weighing 250 pounds, also with a shaved head.

The two were seen leaving the scene in a darkcolored fourdoor vehicle similar to a Kia, said authorities.

This isn't the first attack involving baseball bats this month. Two other incidents have occurred in the county since last week.

A pizza delivery driver was injured when a man attacked him with a baseball bat in Port Hueneme on Sunday. The Port Hueneme police believe local residents are the culprits in this case but haven't apprehended anyone yet, they said.

The third incident occurred in Moorpark. Someone also used a baseball bat to beat a man selling corn on Harry Street late last week.

The case is still under investigation and nobody has been apprehended, said Ventura County Sheriff 's Detective Allen Devers, who is handling the Moorpark incident.

"Investigators aren't ruling out a possible connection but they haven't determined that they (the attacks) are indeed connected," said Sgt. Stephanie Shannon of the Simi Valley Police.

She also said the Simi Valley victim isn't very cooperative with the investigation.
