Resident does not share Martinez's views on immigration

2006-09-22 / Letters

It absolutely slays me how politicians continue to skirt the (illegal immigration) issue.

Ms. Martinez, who's running against Mr. Gallegly, who holds an excellent record according to numbersusa.com report card, says, "A path should be set to enable immigrants who are already here to be registered and given the opportunity to become citizens. . . ." First of all, legal immigrants don't need "a path." They already have one. What she is really saying is illegal aliens need a path.

You know, Ms. Martinez, this kind of rhetoric isn't going to fly anymore.

Get the terminology correct. Stop mixing apples and oranges and thinking that we are too stupid to tell the difference. This country, in case you didn't know it, is sick of this PC bull. Americans take pride in their values and laws. Without them we would be a Third World country, no better than some of the armpits on this planet.

Do you honestly think that someone who hides under the seat of a car, violates a visa, sneaks across any border, who is breaking the law should be rewarded? Let me remind you that representatives are elected to "enforce the laws" that serve the people, not pick and choose which ones they want to agree with.

When you talk pathway, you are talking about letting millions of people who have broken too many laws to even begin listing them here, and then just letting them go, with no consequences because after all they are hardworking and have families. Well I tell you, that is just too darned bad. They should have thought about that before they broke into our country.

No one dragged them kicking and screaming over the border. It is time to vote out any and all politicians who do not have Americans' rights and interests as their priority.

It is time to get rid of the pandering politicians who seem to think that lawbreakers are more important than the citizens of this country.

It's time to vote for whatever party, or whoever is running, who is willing to uphold and enforce the laws of this country. Not someone who feels sorry for a group of lawbreakers. Joy Lomenick Simi Valley
