Chabad to host annual Tashlich walk Sunday
Chabad of the Conejo will host a Tashlich walk on the second day of Rosh Hashanah, Sun., Sept. 24.
The Tashlich tradition consists of visiting a body of water containing live fish. A special prayer is recited at the water at which Jews symbolically "cast away" their sins.
"Tashlich is rich in significance and meaning," said Rabbi Moshe Bryski. "We visit a body of water with fish for as fish depend upon water, so do we depend
upon God's providence. As a fish's eyes never close, so too God never stops watching over us."
Chabad has been hosting the Tashlich walk for the past 14 years. The walk will begin at the Hyatt Westlake Plaza Hotel at 5:15 p.m. and will proceed to to Westlake Lake.
Chabad is inviting all Jews from all synagogues to join them for the Tashlich walk as a sign of Jewish unity and celebration.
